City Cite offers the power of experiential learning in the centre of Melbourne. Our programs allow students a chance to take greater responsibility for their learning, with opportunities to work in groups to complete multidisciplinary tasks in a real-life context. At City Cite, the city really is the classroom.
I invite you to explore our website and contact us to book your school into City Cite, so that together, we can deliver collaborative, immersive, thinking education.
Tania Deguara B.A., Dip.Ed., M.Ed., MACEL
Director, City Cite
We provide a safe and comfortable base for immersive learning programs in the heart of Melbourne’s bustling central business district.
We have more than 20 years’ experience to take the stress out of planning and running education programs in the city.
Our programs are bespoke, focus on social and cultural issues, and aim to introduce middle years students to the city in all its diverse forms. We challenge student perspectives, improve individual responsibility, develop empathy, and foster an environment where students can learn their place in the world by broadening their perspectives on life.
The City Cite facility on Flinders Street is an exciting campus away from home. It provides a comfortable, well-equipped educational learning space for students and visiting school staff.
There are four experienced, permanent staff members at City Cite (our director, Tania Deguara, along with Andrew Barker, Trista Wright and Brad Vallance). In addition, experienced sessional staff are on hand to assist with extra classes. All teaching staff who work at City Cite are experienced, VIT registered teachers.
Programs offered range from the development of orientation/navigation skills to in-depth deep dives in the form of inquiry project-based learning exploring complex issues affecting Melbournians.
Immersive experiential learning lies at the heart of our programs and this is underpinned by our guest speakers and established partnerships with people and organisations that have first-hand knowledge of a broad range of social issues.
Our programs:
Programs run from one to three weeks, and the design of the program depends largely on the length of time that the students will spend at City Cite. We consult with partner schools to design a program that meets their intended learning outcomes.
