Melbourne CBD - Dive into the vibrant life, the iconic architecture, and the spirited streets of Melbourne. Let the city’s heart inspire your masterpiece.
Canvas Artwork Only – This competition is all about traditional art. Create a stunning visual piece on a 1x1 meter canvas. Please note, photography is not permitted.
Exhibit Your Artwork – The winning artwork will be proudly displayed for a year in the entry foyer of the City Cite building, where it will inspire students and visitors alike. After that period it may be donated to one of our partner non-profit organisations in recognition of their community service.
The title of the work, the artist's name and the name of their school will be displayed alongside the artwork while it is exhibited at City Cite.
The winning artist will also receive the opportunity to participate in a 50 minute one-on-one session with renowned Melbourne artist n2o and a $100 voucher for art supplies. $50 vouchers will go to second and third place winners.
The entries will be judged by local artists and friends of City Cite.

Thank you for entering the 2024 City Cite Art Challenge.
1. Entrants must be currently enrolled at a City Cite partner school in years 9-12, and have attended City Cite in Year 8 or Year 9.
2. All works must be created on a 1m x 1m canvas and include any art medium (oil, acrylic, pencil, mixed media etc) other than photography.
3. Entries must be original work and the artist's own work. The use of artificial intelligence (AI) is strictly prohibited.
4. There is a limit of one entry per person.
5. Entries must not have won a previous award or competition.
6. The winning entry will be permanently acquired by City Cite and will be displayed at City Cite for 12 months, along with the artist's name and the name of their school. Thereafter, the winning artwork may be donated to one of City Cite's non-profit partners, or retained by City Cite.
7. The artist’s name, school name and image may be used in marketing and publicity materials associated with the City Cite Melbourne CBD Art Challenge.
8. Shortlisted artists will be invited to attend the award ceremony event in November 2024.
9. In all matters relating to conditions of entry, the decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
10. The judges will not be required to make an award if they do not consider the entries to be of sufficient standard.
11. Shortlisted artists only will be notified.

13. Closing date for entries: Entries must be uploaded via the link located on this page www.citycite.vic.edu.au/artchallenge by 5pm on Friday, 11 October 2024.
14. All entries must follow the online registration and submission process.
15. The winner of the 2024 City Cite Melbourne CBD Art Challenge will be announced in November 2024.
