The Victorian Curriculum sets out what every student should learn during their years of schooling. The curriculum is the common set of skills required by students for life-long learning, social development and active, informed citizenship.
We see the program at City Cite as an opportunity for a student to demonstrate independence and agency in ways that they may not otherwise be able to at school. These capabilities and dispositions are difficult to ‘assess’ yet contribute to their overall growth and development.
In looking at the Victorian Curriculum, and in particular Personal and Social Capabilities, it is apparent that a city experience can help schools reinforce a multidisciplinary approach to student learning. Therefore, a focus on the following Capabilities or Learning Areas are major parts of programs at City Cite:
See the linked documents for examples of Multidisciplinary Capabilities which are particularly relevant to off campus projects in the City and Learning Connections which can show schools where they can make specific links to particular study areas.
City Cite respectfully acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong peoples of the Kulin Nation, whose land we work and learn on. We pay our respects to their Elders, past and present, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
